Hotel and restaurant Dikļi palace

Neo-Baroque architectural monument Dikļi Castle. Restaurant for exquisite gourmets. Landscape park intertwined with little paths. SPA. Hotel. Conference centre. White Guide Nordic 2018.

The earliest evidence of the Dikļi Castle is found in sources from the 15th century. Thus, the present Dikļi Castle, with its beautiful attic roof, picturesque park and other complex buildings, forms one of the few Neo-Baroque architectural monuments of Vidzeme, inhabited by several ancient Baltic German families. Nowadays, the Castle has a hotel, a spa, a conference centre and a restaurant. It has gorgeous interiors with pristine, luxurious tile stoves and fireplaces that create a particularly cosy atmosphere during the cold season, with the fire surrounding burning logs.

The Restaurant’s menu is an adventure for gourmets. You can enjoy modern interpretations of the local goods of Vidzeme countryside. The chef’s inexhaustible source of inspiration is nature, the key to the guests’ well-being – the goods from local farmers, nearby forests, fresh fish of Burtnieki Lake and the pride of the Restaurant – the game of the Castle’s manager himself.

Everything goes into the chef’s creative ideas and skilful hands to create gastronomic artwork from simple and fine products. They are made in a slow-boiled, saturated broth, spicy pickled forest mushrooms, caraway seeds soaked in beer, luscious pieces of fish and meat dried in juniper smoke. With added jelly, whipped cream or grated horseradish? Chicory? But maybe quince? Red wine or lingonberries? A little spruce aroma? There are many variations. All covered in sauce – the most important ingredient for food, which used to be regarded as sinful in the past. And, on top of it all, desert, which is probably the most sinful of them all.

Thanks to the talented chef Jānis Siliņš, the Dikļi Castle Restaurant won the 9th place among Latvian restaurants in the prestigious White Guide Nordic 2018’s category Fine level, and is ranked 10th in the Latvian Restaurant Excellency Top 30. Hours vary by season. More information on the Dikļi Castle’s website.
